About

I am a documentary researcher and historian living in a state you’re more likely to fly over than to visit. My research investigates the intersections of nonfiction forms and production technologies such as in animation, virtual and augmented realities, and interactive applications. It also delves into documentary institutions and their histories.

Posts here cover three areas: documentary media, research processes, and blogging practices. Documentary media include engagements with films and applications, but also reviews and round-ups of writing about documentary. Research processes address tools and procedures when working with archival materials. Blogging practices are just that — tools and techniques to build a more effective blog. Other infrequent topics include film festivals, regional productions, and documentary ethics.
