The Cove
Jesus Camp
After Innocence
F is for Fake
Posted by Dor Dotson | September 3, 2012, 10:38 pmUnless I just missed it… No Herzog? I wouldn’t count “Burden of Dreams.” “Lessons of Darkness” would be good, but for an introduction to docs, “Grizzly Man” is, erm, palatable. Tragic, funny, weird… people looking to dive into docs can get down with that.
Some more hybrids would be good. I think I saw a Jean Rouch film up there (I ain’t double checking
) — but off the top of my head, “Our Beloved Month Of August,” “In April the Following Year, There Was a Fire” & Nicolas Pereda’s stuff.
Posted by Christopher Bell | September 3, 2012, 11:01 pmI personally love the work of South-African/Dutch filmmaker Saskia Vredeveld. She made a particularly interesting documentary about Afrikaner extremists and Eugene Terre’Blanche Resistance Movement, sending shivers up your spine. My Beloved Country (1991)
